The ARENA DIPLOMACY SITE RULES will, in general, follow the "Terms of Service" and "Community Guidelines" as published by the forum host site, ProBoards. You are, however, encouraged to read these.
GENERAL PRINCIPLE
It shouldn't surprise you that the general principle is RESPECT. In your interactions with ARENA DIPLOMACY and the members of the site, you're expected to respect the members, staff and rules of the site. If you don't do that, then you'll be breaking one or more of these rules and this will result in a sanction.
Site Management understands that there are times when it is more difficult to do this, especially when provoked. In this case, please use the reporting system to have a member of the management team take a look at it.
There are also times when poor or loose expression can lead to offence. If you're offended by forum content, you're encouraged to ask why you're offended. Does the content really break the RULES? If so, report it. If you're offended because the content doesn't fit in with your personal opinion, morality or ethics, but is within the rules, then you're encouraged to take an "it takes all sorts" viewpoint. Not everyone is going to see things the way you do and this is a forum where respect means accepting this reality.
In all cases, Site Management will take a balanced view and act proportionately. We have guidelines that we act within and will deal with every situation equitably. You will have the chance to have a decision reviewed but, ultimately, the decision of Site Management is final.
GENERAL RULES
1. You're allowed one account on this site. There is no need to have more than one account! If you pick a name that you don't like, or contains information you wish you hadn't included (eg your email address) then request that it gets changed by messaging site management. We're not going to do it over and over, but we'll take each request on an individual basis.
2. Play any games you're in yourself and don't ask for help from a wider community of players. This is about respecting players in your game. Assuming a standard game of Dip, it is you against six other players, and that's the way it should be. If you - or someone else in the game - seeks help and advice from someone outside the game, an individual or, more commonly, a community, then you are getting help that others in the game aren't getting. Of course, they could do the same thing, but perhaps they have more respect for the game than you and won't do it. So it will result in you being removed from a game if you are found to have done this.
3. In-game abuse should be self-managed. I am aware that, in a game, there should be some leeway in what players are allowed to say. Below, the PROHIBITED CONTENT section deals with what isn't allowed on the Forum. In a game I expect to be much more lenient. As arena games will be played on a host site you will be expected to follow the rules of that site. However, Site Management will also look into what is said in games. If abuse is felt to be out of proportion, be sustained beyond what should be expected, or threatening you could be removed from the game. Additionally racism,
