To register to play in the WCoD 2024/5, you simply need to create a post below. The details you need to provide are:
You therefore must be registered on Playdiplomacy to play in the WCoD.
If you live in a country that can commonly be subdivided into different "countries", for instance the UK, then you can also register which country you wish to represent if it is viable to separate these countries out.
If you live in Northern Ireland, you can choose to represent the UK, Northern Ireland and - if you are prepared to do so - an all Ireland team.
You cannot register to represent a country that is not widely recognised, eg Catalonia.
Registration is open throughout the Qualifying stage. However, before the final two Qualifying rounds are played, I will have finalised the teams that will be represented in the WCoD. To be viable in the Finals, a team really needs a minimum of four players (four games in each round of the Finals). Anyone who registers after this point will register with whichever team is most suitable. Small teams may be amalgamated into regions; however, I may invite people registered with one team, who are able to represent a close-to-viable team, to switch.
- Your username on Playdiplomacy. This is needed because some players will already be registered on the site and not have the same username here, and some players will have a username here that they can't register on the Playdip with. When it comes to awarding points, for instance, I need to be able to know the individual's name on both sites.
- The country you wish to represent. This will be a choice from: the country you were born in, a country you have citizenship with, or a country of your nationality (or a parent's nationality). You can only register for one country. Once you have registered you cannot change the country you have registered with.
